Helluva Rides is all about helping out the community and giving back. We just came across a video by Jay Aye that was posted on the Strictly S Truck Club Facebook page that was so touching we just had to post it.

Helluva Rides is a supporter of Lokahi as you saw in the past we helped with the Annual School Supply Drive and Christmas Toy Drive and also Adopted a few families and it was is really touching to see Strictly S go above and beyond during Christmas and to adopt a family from the Lokahi Giving Project.

The less than week after WEKFEST HAWAII 2011, Remix/HIN “Hot Import NIghts” was in town on Sat DEC 10 2011. HIN has been one of the shows that has been around Hawaii for years but since the attendance of cars vendors and spectators has dropped each year. This year the die hard REMIX/HIN Hawaii show came back even though they knew the WEKFEST was coming to Hawaii the week before there show.

While looking through our photos from Sema 2011 we noticed we missed the feature on Auto Fashions “WUD UP WEDS” meet. Auto Fashion has this meet down in San Diego on Weds. But since a lot of car enthusiast were in Vegas from all around the USA why not hold it in Vegas after the doors from Sema was closed and before the SEMA parties was in full swing.



On a cool night right off the Vegas Strip at the Callaway Golf Center Parking lot there must have been about a 100 cars hanging out by the time we left the event. Many of the Vegas locals came out to show what vegas had to offer.

Weksos Industries and Fatlace held Wekfest Hawaii and it was the last stop of the 2011 Wekfest Tour and it drew over 200 of Hawaii’s cleanest rides. With the help from local shops because this was a show coming from North California, Shops such as Forjworks, GX Auto, Auto Customs, Paris Ultra Lounge and JSPIRIT helped organize and promoted the event in Hawaii that made it a huge success.

As you know Helluva Rides did a write up on Air Suspension Systems earlier this year.

At Sema 2011 we had a chance to meet up with the guys at the AIRREX Air Suspensions booth. But before we get on with the feature on AirREX let take you guys back to memory lane.

Adjustable suspensions have come a long way and evolved in many different ways. Lets take a stroll back about 20 years when the lowrider movement was in full swing and hydraulics suspensions ruled the automotive scene and shows. Hydraulic suspensions were being used long before the huge Lowrider movement back in the 90s but hydraulic suspensions were mostly used on domestic cars. Of course it hydraulics worked well on the domestic cars the movement was well on its way to Euros and Imports into the lowrider scene. Back in the day air suspension wasn’t the choice of anyone. But as the movement headed to the import scene the ride quality of Hydraulics and imports was that the ride was to stiff and bouncy.

Within the next few years lets say mid 90s the truck scene was turning to air bag suspension systems. Air Suspension was the answer for a smoother ride. But for the imports with a strut suspension system there still wasn’t really an answer because bags would have to be fitted over struts and the struts having to pass through the bags.

Sorry guys for taking so long for part 2 of Sema 2011.

But as you saw in our part 1 Scion had a lot to show and like always they have been doing it right since 2004 when Toyota came out with the Scion Brand. One of the main reasons that makes Scion so successful is its partnership with Troy Sumitomo of FIVE AXIS. Five Axis has been working with Scion since day one and has come up with some head turning builds. It was most famous for building Scions first project car for Scion the Orange 1st gen Scion XB DJ show car. Five Axis not only builds customized show cars, but they also are involved with help to build some of Toyotas Prototype vehicles Such as Scions new FRS.



The 2013 Lexus Project GS F Sport was another clean build from Five Axis. Not as crazy as the DJ XB but you can see Five Axis flowing throughout the car. Exterior Styling with body kit that gives the GS an more aggressive. The GS was also on Air Runner Air Suspension to get that aggressive stanced look and of course to get the car in  and out of the trailer and driveways easier.

This was our first time ever to the ever so talked about Sema Show. Its kind of strange that we went to the Tokyo Auto Salon before we ever went to Sema. It was such an experience to be on the show floor of SEMA if your an auto enthusiast this is an show you must experience in your life time
