Even though we try not to make our shows competitive, what would a car show be without a few winners. We feel that everyone that participates in any show are all winners, we all put our own ideas, time, style and money into creating rides that we can be proud of. It really doesn’t matter what others think, the main thing is your happy with what you build. Like always some may like it some may not and who cares.

The categories Helluva Rides have came up with is what many shows have used for years called a peoples choice award. Peoples choice is chosen by the people, that could be friends and family or even people that you don't even know. But we added a twist to our peoples choice voting and it is done online at www.helluvarides.com where entrants create an page with a profile of there car with photos and specs. Whats awesome about this system is that people from anywhere can vote at anytime of the day.

Even the awards was different. at every show we see the same old type of awards given out. We always want to be different at Helluva Rides so we had Forjworks custom make a set of awards that was hand crafted out of billet aluminum.
The first award that was awarded was the “Peoples Choice Best of Show” that went to Jared Tomisato with a 2008 Infinity G35 that blew everyone away in online votes with 97 votes. Tomisatos car was decked out with pearl white paint job and the car was de chromed all done by GX Auto. He even took a set of SSR Nobles and painted them a matte black face and the lip was color matched to the pearl white that was sprayed on the car. The car sits slammed on Tanabe DF210 springs. And when you work for a stereo shop “Progressive Auto Sounds” how can you not have a killer sound system that takes the breath out of you and make your heart skip a beat.. and believe it or not you would probably think he was hiding 2 15inch subs in that trunk but its just 10 inch subs.
Specs can be found Here and if you like his car make sure you place a vote for it.

The second award that was awarded was the “Kids Choice Award” in which kids from the Boys and Girls Club of Hawaii and kids that also attend got to vote and choose there favorite Helluva Ride. And let us till you these kids really have some classic taste! You would think that kids of this generation would vote for a tuner import car but they proved us wrong, in fact the cars with the 2 most votes that were classics and were very close in votes with the winner edging it with just 4 more votes than the second place ride. The kids choose there favorite Helluva Ride that was a metallic green 1965 VW Karman Ghia that belonged to Leroy of the
VW Club of Hawaii. The Ghia was rolling on some Porsche Alloys thats been a VW favorite for years. What stood out allot was those roof racks. you see so many imports these days sporting roof racks but as you can see from many of the VWs it was very popular back in the day and is nothing new to the automotive scene.

The third award that was awarded was the “Best of Show Helluva Ride” this award went to the ride that truly had the most work and detail and craftsmanship go into it. This award was the only award that we our selfs made sure we picked the right car to win this. It wasn’t you normal build you normally see on the streets. These rides were pretty much taken down to bare nothing and built from the ground up and noting was left untouched. This was a hard category to determine who was the winner. It was between 4 cars that we had been looking at all day it was a VW Buggy, Corvette, Toyota Sprinter and an Impala. The first one we eliminated was the vette. After speaking to the owner and although that vette was my favorite we couldn’t choose that car because it was built bought like that and only a 170 or so were made. The second one we eliminated was the VW buggy. It had everything done custom paint with graphics entire under carriage was done and super clean, with well built eng. and nice interior.. but there was a few things that were missing that the winning car had. The third car was a clean orange JDM Toyota Sprinter that we personally know and we knew what went into this build and on top of that just a few weeks ago we had it featured on Helluva Rides and it did win best of show at Spocom. A truly beautiful well built rare car. but it lacked in areas that the winning car had.

So we come to the winning car and yes again it was a all time classic muscle car thats has been done every style possible in the automotive scene. The Best of Show Helluva Ride went to Morgan and his 1963 Impala. This wasn’t your normal 1963 Impala, this was actually a 4 door. but like we say a ride is a ride. After talking with Morgan we asked him why a 4 door? the answer was it was a race car at one time and when the track closed he rebuilt the Impala to be a show car instead. Truly he really did an awesome job with this 4 door impala, the door handles and engine fire wall were shaved and a custom hood was added.. and air suspension and big brake kit for front and rear was added and to top it off a full custom interior with a nice stereo set up in the trunk, and this is where this Impala stood out from the rest. This car had one to many major mods to even pass it up to be the Helluva Ride of the show!

We would like to congratulate all the participants! And everyone is a winner no matter what. The best feeling in the end is that we all can say we made a difference and did this for a good cause! The Boys and Girls Club Hawaii!
